Gave the Night Heron a 2nd go after dipping the night before & was eventually rewarded with good views

Purple Heron

April 24th had me heading upto Huttoft Bank,Lincs for the 1st Summer Purple Heron a British tick for me & 1 bird that iv'e travelled for many times & always missed,on arrival we were told that they're had been no sign of the bird since 1st light,with the hide being full i stepped out just at the wrong moment as the shout went up on returning to the hide i was met with some sarcastic remarks off a cpl of locals who were quickly responded to before i again left the hide only for the bird to fly right past the hide & give a stunning fly past,i was so gobsmacked i didn't even lift the camera, for the next 1/2 hr or so the bird performed out in the open at the back of the pool but was always distant!
